Excellent capability, spacious interior, and powerful engines are the main characteristics of the well-known Land Rover Discovery. It is available in three trim levels and comes with a choice of one petrol and one diesel engine. The automaker is currently working on the newest 2019 Land Rover Discovery which shouldn’t differ majorly from the current model year. But it could get some upgrades in the technology front.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery
The 2019 Land Rover Discovery will hit the market with two types of engines among which one is a petrol and the other is a diesel unit. So, the new Discovery will be powered with a 3.0-liter V-6 supercharged petrol engine which will be able to produce 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and will come standard with the full-time all-wheel drive layout. Speaking of the fuel efficiency, this unit is rated at 16 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined.
The next option is a 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged diesel unit. This one is able to generate 254 horsepower and the torque of 443 lb-ft. It will also work with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and full-time all-wheel drive system. As for the fuel economy, it gets 21 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. The towing capacity of the diesel unit will be around 7,700 pounds while the gasoline unit is rated at 8,200 pounds.
Design of exterior and interior of the 2019 Land Rover Discovery
The current model has been revised so the new Discovery looks more attractive than the previous models. Of course, it features the same boxy shape. But the whole body now has smoother edges which have significantly improved its fuel efficiency. The new 2019 Land Rover Discovery will keep with the same design language as the current model year. Perhaps we might see some small adjustments of the front fascia including refreshed grille and headlamps and revised taillight on the rear end of the vehicle.
Inside, the 2019 Land Rover Discovery comes standard with three rows of seats. And all the versions are able to place up to seven passengers. However, the base and HSE models are available with two rows as well. Surprisingly, the third row is spacious and can accommodate adults without any discomfort. The front seats are, naturally, the most comfortable and the outward visibility is excellent. The cargo room is also great. And with the third row folded down, it offers 40 cubic feet for the storage. With the second and third row folded down, the cargo room expands to almost 83 cubes.
Furthermore, all the trims levels come standard with power adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, 19-inch wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, and dual-pane sunroofs. The higher trims will add LED lights, premium audio, a 10-inch touchscreen, navigation, and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 Land Rover Discovery might hit the market later this year or sometime at the beginning of the next. The price should start at around $52,000.
