After years of the expectation for the new Defender to arrive, it seems that the carmaker will finally offer it with a new design and many other changes. The upcoming 2019 Land Rover Defender might arrive next year and will be offered with a variety of diesel and petrol engines. Visually it is going to be revised with a new, more modern look but in the same time, it will keep its recognizable boxy appearance. It will most likely ride on the new platform and will come with upgraded technology and interior.
2019 Land Rover Defender Powertrain Specs
Beneath the hood of the new 2019 Land Rover Defender is expected to be placed several options. So, the new Defender will most likely get the engines which are offered from the Ingenium lineup and there are several gasoline and diesel engines. Therefore, the one option is expected to be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine. This one should be able to deliver 247 hp and the torque of 267 lb-ft. Furthermore, the second option is going to be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. It will be able to deliver 180 horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque.
On the other hand, according to some sources, the new 2019 Land Rover Defender might also get a 6-cylinder engine, but the performance of this unit is not yet known. Furthermore, we can also expect the new plug-in hybrid engine to be in the offer as well. This unit will combine a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with an electric motor of 85 kWh. The total output of the PHEV version is expected to be around 398 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque. The all-electric range of this model will be roughly 31 miles and this engine will also get a lithium-ion battery of 13.1 kWh.
Exterior and Interior Design
First of all, the newest 2019 Land Rover Defender is expected to be underpinned with a new platform. And it is going to be the Range Rover’s unibody platform. Thanks to the new architecture, the Land Rover Defender should arrive with a reduced weight and much better fuel economy. As for its external appearance, the new Defender should retain its familiar boxy look. But it will get some adjustments in order to look competitive and fresh. Therefore, we should see more upgrades of both front and rear fascias and changes of the grille, lights, and bumpers. As well, the new Defender should be offered in two-door and four-door versions and with the two-door and soft top model.
Speaking of the interior, for now, there is no much information for the 2019 Land Rover Defender. However, it will definitively get upgrades in the materials and it could get some new color combinations. The all-new 2019 Land Rover Defender could be presented to the world sometime next year. But the precise date is not yet known. Its price is also not available at the moment.
