The German automaker has been unveiled this morning all-new 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport model at Chattanooga Assembly Plant. This model is the third one to be built at this plant, alongside the Passat and Atlas model. The five-seater SUV looks attractive and it took a lot of attention today.
Under the hood, this middle-size SUV comes with the same 2.0-liter turbo-four and 3.6-liter V6 powertrains that powers Atlas. The base model can produce 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the stronger one delivers 276 hp and 266 lb.-ft. Also, according to the officials, the new cross Sport model will come with impressive cargo space.
2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport Exterior Design, Dimensions
The 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport Cross Sport is a middle-size SUV that provides aggressive design. Thanks to the sharply raked rear pillar and hatch, the Cross Sport design features a sportier profile than the boxy Atlas. Also, most of the attention will draw new highlights and a new three-bar chrome grille design, alongside the sculpted hood. Rear-end is also attractive thanks to the bumpers as well as taillights that use LED lighting.
As the Atlas SUV base model, the Cross Sport comes with the same 117.3-inch wheelbase and is 78.3 inches in width. The R-Line trim is also available. This model will replace some chrome accents with piano black, and it offers stylish 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport Interior Styling
The interior of the 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport will not differ too much from the base Atlas. The new sporty model will bring more features and more quality inside, alongside the new driver-assistance safety system. Also, buyers of this SUV will get a new steering wheel design and selectable stitching accents. Furthermore, this is not all; the premium 12-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, and rear seats, navigation, wireless charging, an exclusive 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit are also parts of this SUV.
Safety features like Traffic Jam Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist systems, Dynamic Road Sign Display is also available. Seats of the sports model provide more comfort, and thanks to the great arranged cabin, the Cross Sport SUV offers 40.3 cu.-ft. behind the second row. However, when folded down, rear seats opens 77.8 cu.-ft.
Powertrain Details, Towing Rate
The German manufacturer will implement the same powertrains that power base model to the 2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport. Under the hood, there will be two powertrain options. The first and engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that delivers 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. And the second one is stronger 3.6-liter V6 that makes 276 hp and 266 lb.-ft.
Both powertrains will be available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system as standard. The tow rate is also excellent thanks to the V6 engine; the new 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport can tow up to 5000 pounds.
Price and Release Date
The price of the newest 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is still a mystery. Whatsoever, manufacturer announcement that this model will go on sale this spring, and we can expect more details soon.
