The current automotive market is all about electrification and this trend will spend no one, including capable off-roaders. So, even the Wrangler will get an all-electric powertrain soon, after the recent introduction of the PHEV version. The company already presented two concepts, called Magneto, and it’s believed that the production version could arrive already in the next year, rumors suggest. At this point, the officials are still quiet about the all-electric iteration of the iconic off-roader.
In any case, we expect the 2024 Jeep Wrangler EV to follow the path of the concept version, at least in some aspects. On the other hand, we also count on some more conventional design solutions, similar to the standard ICE model. What’s most intriguing is the powertrain, we would probably feature a little different approach compared to the concept versions.
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler EV is pretty much a certain thing and it’s just a matter of time before the company will announce its launch.
2024 Jeep Wrangler EV Design
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler EV is still in development and the company keeps most details a secret. However, we can rely on the concept version to predict some of the aspects of the all-electric Wrangler. If you look at the concept versions, you can see a familiar design but notable differences as well. These two models came in a two-door layout but with a significant size increase compared to the ICE version. The wheelbase is 12 inches longer, and you can also notice a lot of exclusive styling details. Some of the highlights are custom lightweight bumpers, carbon-fiber wheel flares, Surf Blue paint, custom carbon-fiber B-pillar, a custom bikini top, and a carbon-fiber hood with blue-tinted, transparent hood etc.
What is interesting is that these concepts tend to be even more off-road capable compared to the current ICE version. There are some notable upgrades, such as off-road suspension, a custom 3-inch lift kit, 40-inch off-road tires mounted on 20-inch wheels, Dynatrac 60 Pro-Rock front axle and a massive Pro-Rock Dynatrac 80 rear axle with a 5.38 ratio and lockers for both axles, custom driveshaft and more.
At this point, it’s hard to tell how many of these upgrades will find their place in the production version.
2024 Jeep Wrangler EV Powertrain and Performance
As we’ve just mentioned, there have been two versions of the concept so far. The first one came with a rather modest setup by EV standards, with an electric motor on the front axle with a max output of 285 horsepower. The second concept brought a significant power upgrade, so the max output went up to 625 horses. What is particularly interesting is that the electric motor was paired with a manual gearbox, which is pretty unusual for the 1-speed world of electric cars.
It’s hard to tell how much of this design solution will find a place in production but on the other hand, we may see the same approach regarding battery placement. Namely, the concept models feature four battery packs, in different areas. In that way, engineers optimized weight distribution without compromising off-road performance. The total battery capacity is 70 kWh but we presume that the 2024 Jeep Wrangler EV could feature more in the production version.
At this point, there is no information about power efficiency or other aspects of energy consumption. All we know is that the batter capacity is 70-kWh in the concept version, but the company didn’t come up with any number regarding the max range.
The concept version came with a two-door layout and what’s interesting is that it features just two rows of seats. We are pretty sure that the production version would come with a more conventional approach, with a design that includes two rows of seats and, most likely, four doors.
On the other hand, things about the dashboard design are relatively easy to predict. We presume that the overall shape would remain the same or similar to the current ICE model, though we expect to see some details that accentuate the model’s all-electric nature. This particularly refers to the instrument cluster, but we also count on a few more advanced tech goodies, maybe even a bigger infotainment screen. Of course, unique color schemes and similar things are also expected.
2024 Jeep Wrangler EV Release Date and Price
The 2024 Jeep Wrangler EV could arrive already in the next year, even though the officials are still quiet. We estimate that the base price could go around 50.000 dollars.
