The all-new subcompact crossover 2021 Honda HR-V will hit markets in the following year. According to numerous reports, the upcoming model will get multiple changes outside and inside. Furthermore, the new SUV will get a more attractive look and better cabin, but can this be enough to compete with the rest of the SUVs in the same class nowadays? Definitely, yes. However, if the manufacturer wants to stay competitive, it must add more quality materials and make some changes under the hood.
HR-V is a subcompact crossover that only lacks in the engine department. Unfortunately, this model is offered with only one engine option. Whatsoever, most of its rivals have more than two engines.
Next-Gen 2021 HR-V Redesign
The new 2021 Honda HR-V crossover comes with the revised front end and thanks to that, the new SUV provides a sporty look. Furthermore, choosing trim levels like Touring and Sport, you can get even more exterior treatment options. Honda HR-V sports a coupe-like profile thanks to a sloping roof, a rear-window treatment, and rear-door handles that sit flush where the window forms its arrow.
This model rides on standard 17-inch alloy wheels, while Sport trim adds more stylish 18-inch wheels. The EX and above trims will be offered with a power moonroof. However, roof rails are standard on Sport and higher trims.
The cabin of 2021 Honda HR-V subcompact crossover will be filed with more features. However, we must add that the manufacturer will use a mild interior makeover this time as on the new CR-V model.
For a start, the upcoming model will get more comfort, and the new infotainment system will be introduced. Like before, Honda HR-V will come with the same layout. It provides a generous cabin across two rows of seats. Tech is new inside, and base LX offers a climate-control system, a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The new Touring trim will add more comfort and it will include leather seating with an 8-way-power driver’s seat. However, choosing up Sport trim customers will get a black headliner, gloss-black trim, and sport pedals.
2021 Honda HR-V Engine Specs
There is no official confirmation from Honda about what engine will be used under the new 2021 HR-V model. From some reports, the forthcoming model will continue to offer the same engine as before. If that is true, we can expect the same efficient 1.8-liter engine. This four-cylinder gasoline under the current model provides an output of 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is the only option under the current model. Furthermore, if Honda manufacturer means to be competitive on the market, then some new engines may happen. By the way, the 1.8-liter engine uses a 6-speed manual gearbox and optional CVT transmission. So, we can expect the same gearbox to be used on the new one. Like before, and on most mid-size SUVs front wheels system is standard, while the AWD is also available but as optional.
