2020 Ford Bronco: Price, Interior, Specs, Design

Eagerly expected, the Ford Bronco is finally coming back to the market. The carmaker has recently revealed the teaser image of the upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco, but it is very hard to make a conclusion about how it is going to look like and other specifications. However, it is very likely that the new Bronco will borrow some similar design cues with the 2019 Ranger model with which it will also share the platform. Furthermore, we expect it to appear with the same engines which power the Ranger and the interior should get similar design as the other Ford’s trucks.

Engines and performances of the brand-new 2020 Ford Bronco

Probably, many have expected that the upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco will most likely get a V-8 engine under its hood. However, the Ford manufacturer has decided to reduce engines meaning that the V-6 and V-8 naturally aspirated units have been replaced with inline-4 turbocharged and V-6 twin-turbocharged powertrains. So, in that case, the carmaker will do the same with the Bronco as well.

The base engine of the 2020 Ford Bronco will most likely be the same engine which powers the new 2019 Ford Ranger. And it is a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. The Company still hasn’t revealed the exact performance in the Ranger or either Bronco, but this unit is able to develop 310 horses and 350 pound-feet of torque in the 2018 Ford Mustang EcoBoost. We also expect it to be connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission, but it is still not confirmed if the new Bronco will get a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Furthermore, we assume that the carmaker will also offer it with a V-6 twin-turbo engine at some point in future. As well, we are pretty sure that the Ford Bronco will be powered by a 2.7-liter V-6 Ecoboost engine, the same one which is found in the F-150. It has the output of 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Perhaps, the 3.2-liter diesel might be one of the options also. The new Ranger is available with a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder Eco Boost unit too, so the Bronco might get this one as well.

Hybrid:

Moreover, the carmaker has confirmed the hybrid unit and they are currently testing the plug-in hybrid version of the upcoming F-150. So, it is very likely that the new Ford Bronco will also be available with a hybrid engine. As well, as in the 2018 Ford Expedition and 2019 Ford Ranger, the Bronco should get a standard all-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive system. Its off-road capabilities will be much improved also.

Platform and external appearance of the 2020 Ford Bronco

The Bronco has been first presented to the public back in 1996 and basically, it represented a two-door version of the Ford F-150 model. However, that will not be the case with the 2020 Ford Bronco. It will be based on the body-on-frame construction and the same architecture which underpins the Ford Ranger. Therefore, the Bronco will share many design cues with the Ranger. As well, it is very possible that it will be available in short- and long-wheelbase version and as a two- or four-door model.

2020 Ford Bronco revealed

As for the exterior design, as we have mentioned earlier, the 2020 Ford Bronco will get many similar styling cues from the F-150. Visually, it will get more modern design but it should keep some of its retro details. Those should mostly be visible on the grille and rounded headlamps. The Ford manufacturer has already revealed the teaser image of the upcoming Bronco and judging by this photo, it is expected to feature the recognizable square two-box shape and rugged truck styling. It should also get larger side-view mirrors, an upright windshield, and flared fenders. With a spare wheel mounted on the back and a tapered roof, the new Bronco will remind us on the Jeep Wrangler. As well, compared to the Everest model, the Bronco will feature the boxier look and will get edgier design compared to the Raptor model.

How will the 2020 Ford Bronco look inside?

Well, it is a bit difficult to tell at the moment, since there are still no photos or any specific details. However, we assume that it should get a similar design as the other Ford trucks. And, the Bronco will most likely get modern equipment including the latest infotainment screen with the Sync 3 system. As expected, it will probably come with a two-row seating configuration.
