The Blue Oval company has just refreshed the American-market Escape, so we have no doubt that its European twin will get the same treatment very soon. We expect that the 2024 Ford Kuga will be the one to receive a facelift, which will keep it fresh and competitive for some more time. We expect similar updates, though there is always room for a few unique details in terms of the design approach.
Other than the styling updates, this refresh should also bring some interior enhancements, particularly in terms of new tech features and materials. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain the same, which includes the powertrain offer as well.
Considering the expected changes, we presume that the 2024 Ford Kuga will arrive a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of the year.
2024 Ford Kuga Design
So, the exterior design will certainly be the aspect with the most changes. We expect to see a typical facelift and a good thing to know is that the Blue Oval company already updated the North American Escape, we know what to expect from the 2024 Ford Kuga. Of course, most of the changes will happen at the front, where the current, rounded design solutions will be replaced with much bolder aesthetics. The headlights will bring a more angular design, while the grille will look more prominent and feature a more upright position.
The rear end will follow the new design approach and bring new taillights, along with other parts. Also, there is the new logo, while we also expect to see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options etc. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all, considering that the current model already offers a pretty impressive driving experience for an SUV.
Interior updates are coming as well, but they will mostly be in terms of new tech features. Namely, the 2023 Escape brought largely the same dashboard design, where the key upgrades are new infotainment screens and a new digital instrument cluster. The base model now comes with an 8-inch screen, while a bigger 12.3-inch unit is reserved for higher trim levels. Also, we expect to see new color schemes, new materials and similar updates.
On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain the same, not just in terms of aesthetics, but in terms of passenger space as well. This SUV offers two spacious rows of seats and accommodates up to five passengers pretty easily. Moreover, the cargo area is also quite decent, with 475 liters behind the second row.
There is no doubt that this update will bring a lot of new features. We already talked about the new screens and infotainment system, but many other novelties are also expected. Still, we don’t believe that the base trim-level organization could change drastically.
So, the offer should once again start with the Zetec trim, which should already come with a decent amount of standard equipment, including the new 8-inch infotainment system, smartphone integration, alloy wheels etc.
The first upgrade would come with the Titanium Edition, which would bring LED lighting, bigger wheels, a digital instrument cluster, an upgraded audio system and similar things.
The ST-Line Edition should continue with its sporty flavors, which bring a few exterior upgrades, along with upgraded suspension and brakes. There is also the ST-Line X Edition, with bigger wheels, a panoramic sunroof and similar things.
Finally, we count on the range-topping Vignale, which brings a couple of luxury touches, such as a unique body kit, leather upholstery and more.
2024 Ford Kuga Engines
The powertrain lineup probably won’t change, so there should be one petrol and two hybrid options on offer. Base models would continue with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which puts out around 150 horsepower and comes coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The self-charging hybrid will continue with a familiar setup, which combines a 2.5-liter inline-four with electric motors, for a total output of around 190 horsepower. Finally, there is the plug-in hybrid, with the same petrol engine but a more powerful electric motor, for a total output of 220 horsepower. Both units come with a CVT, but the PHEV features a much bigger battery and also provides nearly 40 miles of the all-electric range.
As there are no powertrain changes to come, we count on the same mpg ratings as well. So, the base petrol engine should be able to return around 42 mph combined. The hybrid returns around 50 miles per gallon, according to the Blue Oval Company.
2024 Ford Kuga Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ford Kuga will arrive in the second half of the year. The current model starts at around £30,755 on the UK market and we don’t expect a significant increase for the next year. Key competitors are models like Toyota RAV4, VW Tiguan etc.
