The new 2019 Lexus RX 450h has been spied during the testing and wearing the camouflage on the rear end, precisely on the taillights. So, we can expect some changes only in that area in the exterior styling. Inside the cabin, the new Lexus will continue with the same design and equipment as the current model. Under the hood, it will also return with the same hybrid engine as before, and the RX 450h will be in the offer as well.
2019 Lexus RX 450h powertrain
The 2019 Lexus RX 450h will arrive with a hybrid engine and it is the same one which powers the current model. This engine combines a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor of 123 kWh. The gasoline engine can produce 259 horses and 259 lb-ft of torque while the total output of the hybrid unit is rated at 308 horsepower. This engine will work with a continuously variable transmission and will come standard with all-wheel drive system. When it comes to fuel economy, this engine gets 31 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
The extended version of the hybrid model called the RX 450hL will use the same engine and transmission but will have different fuel economy ratings. It is estimated to be 29 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Design of exterior and interior
Visually, the upcoming 2019 Lexus RX 450h won’t get any major changes compared to the current model. It has been caught during its testing wearing the camouflage only on the taillights, so we can only expect some mild changes in this area. But in general, the overall shape and design will remain the same. The whole body will feature sharp edges and futuristic design and the front end will be dominated by the large spindle grille and a pair of angular headlamps. The RX 450h will also be offered in the larger L version which will be longer for 4.3 inches. This model won’t be different visually from the standard except for the length.
There probably won’t be any changes applied inside the cabin of the 2019 Lexus RX 450h as well. The standard model will be able to place five passengers while the RX 450hL will have three rows of seats and will accommodate up to seven passengers. All the seats provide great comfort and space and are upholstered in leather. The RX 450hL is available with the second-row captain’s chairs which reduces the seating to six occupants. The cargo space is also pretty good and there is the room of 16.3 cubic feet behind the third row in the extended version.
The standard equipment of the 2019 Lexus RX 450h includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, leather, 20-inch wheels, LED headlamps, power front seats, USB, Bluetooth, audio system with 9 speakers, a rearview camera, Lexus Safety System+, dual-zone climate control, power features, and so on. The heated and ventilated seats, panoramic roof, blind-spot monitors, and navigation will be optional.
Release date and price
The 2019 Lexus RX 450h will go on sale later this year. The price will begin at around $54,000 while the extended version will be roughly $51,600.
