The new Honda Pilot is ready to hit the market will slightly restyled exterior, more equipment, and this time, we are expecting to see it with a new engine. And it should be a hybrid engine which is also used in the Honda Accord model. The new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid won’t differ much from the standard version except the badging and an engine.
Powertrain and performance of 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid
The new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will finally arrive with a hybrid engine and it will most likely be the same found in the new Honda Accord. This unit combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor. However, there is still no information about the total output of this powerplant but it should arrive with the similar output as the Honda Accord.
Furthermore, the base model will be fitted with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine as its forerunner. And this one will be capable of making 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine will work with a 6-speed automatic transmission in the base model while the Touring and Elite trims will use a 9-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive is standard while the all-wheel drive configuration will be optional.
Exterior design and interior
The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid is expected to get a few changes this time. And those will include a revised grille and slightly refreshed headlamps on the front fascia. The headlamps will also be available with LED lights. Moving to the rear end, we could notice new taillights and more chrome trim while the profile will remain the same as before. As well, the hybrid version will most likely get a unique badging in order to differ from the standard model.
The 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid will come with three rows of seats which are highly comfortable even at long rides. The driver’s seat will 10-way power adjustable and the second row will able to welcome three occupants and will move forward, so the access to the third row will b easier. The cargo room of the Pilot will be 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row. If you fold down the third row, the room expands to almost 47 cubes. And the maximum cargo space will be around 84 cubes. The base model is equipped with a 5.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment and the higher trims are equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
The standard equipment of the Pilot will include power features, active safety tech, a 5.0-inch touchscreen, and 18-inch wheels. The EX model will add blind-spot monitors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless ignition, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The EX-L will come with leather upholstery, a moonroof, 4-way power adjustable passenger’s seat, and a power tailgate. The Touring will get a 560-watt audio system, 9-speed automatic, a mobile wi-fi hotspot, and so on. Furthermore, the Elite model will add rain-sensing windshield wipers, a panoramic moonroof, cooled front seats, etc.
Release date and price
During next year, we are hoping to see the new 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid. There is no word about its price, but we assume that it will be higher than the price of the current model which is around $31,000.
