2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign: What We Know So Far

The Korean manufacturer practices various things to remain relevant in the market. Besides competitive prices, it also does pretty quick updates of its models, with production cycles that don’t last more than five years in most cases. The Santa Fe is one of the great examples, as the latest reports suggest a complete redesign for the next year, even though the current model has been around since 2018. Allegedly, the new generation is about to come already in the next year, as the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe.

At this point, we know that this overhaul will bring mostly evolutionary changes. The styling is expected to be all new but on the other hand, a lot of the mechanics should remain the same, including most of the powertrain lineup. We expect the new model to become bigger and more spacious, as well as more luxurious.

The launch date should be scheduled for the second half of 2023.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will receive a full redesign. We presume that the Korean engineers will focus on a couple of important points to make the vehicle better and more competitive. One of them is the size, as the current generation isn’t particularly big by today’s standards. For example, it has a shorter wheelbase than some compact SUVs, such as the VW Tiguan. That’s why we expect the new Santa Fe to grow in size and also offer more space on the inside.

The upcoming redesign shouldn’t bring radical changes regarding mechanics, though we do expect to see some updates on the suspension setup. We count on some more refined components, which would make this SUV smoother and more comfortable to drive, without sacrificing any of its athleticism.

Exterior

Of course, one of the aspects that will change most is the exterior design. The current model looks attractive but we presume that the new one could go with something more conventional, something that would help it age better. In other words, that would mean a little bit more classic aesthetical approach, with a lot of inspiration taken from the bigger Palisade. This particularly refers to the front-end design.

As we already mentioned, the new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will get bigger, while rendering photos also suggest a bolder and more muscular shape.

Interior

Naturally, this overhaul would also bring a new cabin design. As we already said, bigger dimensions are expected from the next generation, which indicates more passenger room. However, we are pretty sure that the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe won’t get the third row of seats. Instead, the new model will continue with a five-seat configuration, with two rows of seats that will both be spacious and comfortable, accommodating adult passengers with ease. On the other hand, the current generation features a smaller cargo area than rivals like Honda Passport or Chevy Blazer, so we expect notable improvements in this aspect.

The current generation looks pretty nice from the inside. The dashboard looks stylish, while the materials are pretty nice. Also, there are numerous tech features, as well as a lot of attention to detail, which all make this cabin look premium. So, we can expect further improvements in all aspects from the next generation, which should make everything look even better. This includes new tech features as well, such as a bigger infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, new connectivity features, new advanced driver-assist systems etc.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, most sources suggest minimal changes compared to the outgoing model. Most likely, the new generation will retain most of the current unit but offer some upgrades in terms of power and efficiency.

One of the engines that could be discontinued is the base 2.5-liter inline-four with 191 horsepower. On the other hand, the optional turbo-four will certainly remain on offer, maybe with some slight power upgrade.

Hybrid models will probably continue in the same way, though we might see certain upgrades regarding power and battery. Currently, the base hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbo-four with an electric motor and delivers a combined output of 226 horsepower. On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid comes with a more powerful electric motor and offers 261 horsepower of the combined output, while you may also count on 30 miles of the all-electric range.

Fuel Economy

Considering that most powertrain options are about to carry on, we could see nothing but minor improvements. For reference, the current base version returns around 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the turbo-four is slightly thirstier in urban conditions, where it returns around 22 mpg.

On the other hand, the hybrid version returns around 36 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, while the PHEV is slightly thirstier and returns around 33/30 mph city/highway.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Release Date and Price

We expect that the next-generation 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. The base price will certainly be higher compared to the current generation which starts at around 30.000 dollars.
