The Korean luxury carmaker has been expanding its offer a lot in the last few years and it looks like the 2024 Genesis GV80 could bring some of them. From what we know so far, the company prepares a mid-cycle refresh which should also bring a new body style, a coupe version that will compete with models like BMW X6, Audi Q8 etc. On the other hand, the standard SUV version will come with some styling updates, while novelties on the inside are also possible.
In any case, all these updates will make the new more competitive, even though the overall layout is about to remain the same. These updates will certainly make this SUV look even better but most features and design characteristics are about the same. This SUV has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the luxurious cabin, lots of standard equipment, smooth and comfortable ride etc.
Despite the expected updates, the 2024 Genesis GV80 probably won’t arrive much earlier than usual.
2024 Genesis GV80 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Genesis GV80 is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh. The test mule has already been spotted on the road and it is expected to be presented later this year. As you may presume, the focus will be on the front-end updates, where we expect to see updates in areas like headlights, grille, bumpers, wheels etc.
Besides the updates on the standard model, the next year will also bring a coupe version of the GV80. This model will adopt the same styling updates at the front, while the rear end will be characterized by a sleek sloped roofline, which will provide that coupe look.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle won’t change and that also refers to the suspension setup. Therefore, the ride quality will remain the same, offering smooth and polished on-road manners.
As we are talking about a mid-cycle refresh, it is also possible to see some cabin updates, even though the current model looks pretty impressive in this aspect. It offers a very elegant cabin design, which is complemented by high-quality materials and a lot of attention to detail. Finally, there is a very generous amount of tech features that make the cabin look even more luxurious.
On the other hand, the seating configuration will remain the same, which means that base models will come with two rows of seats, while the third row will be optional. The new 2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe certainly won’t be offered in a three-row version, and it will certainly feature less cargo space, due to the sloping roof design. For reference, the current model features around 34.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind its second-row seats and a vast 84 cubic feet of the total volume, which is excellent for the class.
Naturally, this update could also bring novelties in terms of new standard and available equipment. Still, we don’t expect to see anything significant, considering that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. For reference, the current model already comes standard with goodies like a 14.5-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 12-speaker stereo, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, a digital key app, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear sunshades.
We presume that some of the current options could become part of the standard equipment. Some of the features that come to our mind are a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, power soft-close doors, power rear sunshades, a 21-speaker stereo etc.
2024 Genesis GV80 Engines
As we already said, we don’t expect to see bigger mechanical changes in the 2024 Genesis GV80. Therefore, the powertrain lineup should also remain the same. So, you may count on two familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 300 horsepower. For those who look for something peppier, there is a 3.5-liter turbo V6, which features a max output of 375 horsepower. Both engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while an all-wheel-drive system is standard in all models.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. The V6 is a little bit thirstier and returns around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
2024 Genesis GV80 Release Date and Price
We expect that the updated 2024 Genesis GV80 will probably arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 57.000 dollars. The new coupe version will probably feature a little bit higher starting price.
