2023 Lexus LX570: Redesign, Changes, and Specs

With the recent redesign, the Japanese luxury brand has brought a completely new design of the flagship SUV. One of the biggest novelties is the new powertrain, where the good-old, but also very thirsty, 5.7-liter V8 gets replaced with the new twin-turbo V6. The new engine brings significant improvements not just in terms of efficiency, but also in terms of torque and overall performance. Therefore, we have no doubt that the second production year will continue in the same way, offering the same new “LX600” moniker, instead of the 2023 Lexus LX570.

This will be the second production year of the new generation, so we don’t expect bigger changes. However, we do expect to see one big novelty, the introduction of the Off-Road trim, which will bring significant off-road upgrades. Other than that, the overall layout will remain the same. For that reason, we don’t believe that the next year’s model will arrive before the last quarter of the year.

2023 Lexus LX570 Design

Replaced with the “LX600” moniker, the 2023 Lexus LX570 will continue to deliver the same design, introduced with the last year’s redesign. Compared to the previous generation, the new model rides on a new GA-F platform, which brings significant improvements, starting from notable weight reduction. The new generation also offers better ride quality, a higher level of comfort and many more things. Of course, there is the new styling, more aggressive and more appealing than before.

However, the initial model lacks a genuine off-road version. It comes with a rear limited-slip differential only and definitely needs upgrades to match Land Rover’s level of capability. That’s the second model year is bringing the new Off-Road trim, which will come with three locking differentials (front, center and rear), suspension upgrades, higher ground clearance and many more.

Interior

On the other hand, we don’t bigger changes on the inside. The new interior looks very nice. It combines classic design elements with modern features, which is a combination that should age pretty well, just like the previous generation did. The materials are super-fine, and there is a lot of attention to detail.

Compared to the previous generation, the new model kept pretty much the same dimensions. The wheelbase remained the same, so the amount of passenger space is also pretty similar. Base models come with two rows of seats and both are quite comfortable. The front seats are massive and supportive, with excellent comfort and great ergonomics. On the other hand, the third row is pretty tight. Simply, the company didn’t want to sacrifice off-road potential and stretch the wheelbase.

The two-row version offers more space. You may count on 44 cubic feet behind the second row and 71 cubic feet behind the third row. The three-row model is good for about 11 cubic feet behind the third row, 44 cubic feet behind the second and 64 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. In both cases, we are talking about subpar ratings for the segment.

Features

We don’t believe that the second production year could bring bigger changes in this aspect. So, base models should come with 12.3-inch and 7-inch touch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker premium stereo, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, wireless device charging, navigation, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, and a moonroof.

Considering the long list of standard equipment, there aren’t many features left as options. You can get upgrades like ambient lighting, a center-console refrigerator, two additional USB ports, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, rear wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays.

2023 Lexus LX570 Powertrain and Fuel Economy

As we already mentioned, the new generation came with a completely new powertrain. So, the second production year won’t be called the 2023 Lexus LX570, but rather the LX600. The heart of the new SUV is the new 3.5-liter V6 turbocharged engine, which features a max output of 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. That is more power and notably more torque compared to the old V8. For that reason, driving dynamics are actually notably better. Another big novelty that came with the recent redesign is the new 10-speed transmission, which works amazingly. It is super-smooth and has a pretty big impact on the overall ride quality.

Fuel Consumption

We all miss that amazing V8 sound from the previous generation but there is a big reason behind the decision to replace that huge engine. Of course, we are talking about fuel economy. The old V8 was good for about 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the new V6 returns around 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, which is way better. That’s not just better than the old LX, but also better than most rivals, including the V6-powered Lincoln Navigator.

2023 Lexus LX570 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Lexus LX570 will arrive in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 88.000 dollars.
