2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge Revealed, First Impression

The first impression of the brand-new 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge is very positive. This all-electric SUV was introduced a few days ago and it will go on sale later this year as a 2021 model. The new Recharge SUV is based on the compact XC40 SUV and both ones will share many cues. However, Recharge will differ in many things, and it`s powered with an all-electric powertrain that produces 402 horsepower. Moreover, thanks to excellent battery capacity, its driving range will be impressive, around 250 miles.

In terms of exterior design, the new Recharge will depart from the regular XC40. It will be more attractive and sporty. Besides that, the interior will mostly remain the same. In the same electric segment are models such as I-Pace, Audi e-Tron, and Hyundai Kona EV. So, we can expect a fierce battle.

Inside, the all-new 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge will provide the same luxury cabin as the regular one. However, there will be some changes in the tech department and the new model will come with a new infotainment system that uses Android operating software.

Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with Google, this SUV will be the first one that will come standard with Google Store, Google Assistant and Google Maps built-in. On top of that, iOS users can also enjoy with CarPlay’s phone integration.

All-Electric Powertrain Specs, Driving Range

The upcoming 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge will differ in many things from the regular model. Also, under the hood, this model will be powered by the all-electric engine vs turbocharged four-cylinder (regular model). The all-new XC40 Recharge will come with excellent battery capacity and a motor that produces over 400 horsepower. This model, with a full battery charged, will provide 250 miles.

Also, it`s equipped with the all-wheel-drive system as standard. Charging will be quick using supercharger and it takes around 40 minutes to 80 percent. Moreover, we are still waiting for some testing and fuel economy numbers. Volvo’s promised significant figures and we believe it. According to the manufacturer, the new Recharge will be able to run from  0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Just for comparison, the latest Audi’s e-Tron electric crossover-SUV provides 200 miles on a single charge, which is 50 less than is marked millage on Recharge.

From the latest info, the new 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge crossover-SUV will be in the same price range as the bigger XC90. According to many websites, the price will be more or less than $50,000.

The closest rivals in the same segment are models such as Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-Tron. So, when can we expect this model to debut? Swedish manufacturer will release the new XC40 Recharge later this year.
