The Jeep Renegade may be the oldest subcompact crossover on the market, which has been around since 2014, but it looks like the company doesn’t plan to replace it any time soon. Instead, it should remain in production for a few more years, so it’s no wonder that we can hear reports about the 2024 Jeep Renegade getting a refresh. Allegedly, the company plans a mild facelifting, which would keep this model fresh and competitive. However, the officials are still quiet about the potential changes.
These changes would mostly be about aesthetics, while the mechanical aspect of the vehicle would remain the same. Therefore, we would see familiar qualities this small SUV generally offers, starting from the spacious cabin, comfortable ride and decent off-road performance. On the other hand, the main complaints go to the underpowered powertrain
Despite the potential updates, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Renegade could arrive before fall.
2024 Jeep Renegade Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Jeep Renegade could receive another update. Allegedly, this would be a minor facelift, with the styling changes in focus. Naturally, most of them would happen at the front, where we expect to see minor tweaks in areas like headlights, grille, fascia etc. Furthermore, we could see tweaks on the rear end, along with typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options etc.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain the same. This SUV offers a smooth and comfortable ride, along with pretty decent off-road potential. All-wheel drive is standard, while base models offer 8 inches of ground clearance. The Trailhawk brings upgrades such as 8.7 inches of ground clearance, skid plates, hill-descent control and a variety of traction control settings for different terrain like mud and rocks.
Interior
Things about the interior are still unclear. While some sources suggest similar updates we saw a few years ago in the Compass, others believe that the dashboard design will remain largely the same. The latter seems more likely to us as well. The current cabin looks nice, with a lot of funky details and relatively decent build quality. The visibility is good, as well as the ergonomics.
The aspect where this SUV really impresses is the passenger space. Thanks to its boxy shape, the second row offers plenty of headroom, while the legroom is decent as well. Of course, things are pretty good in the front row as well where, besides sufficient passenger space, you may also count on a pretty good driving position with good ergonomics and outward visibility. The cargo area offers around 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 50.8 cubic feet in total, which is about average for the segment.
Features
Of course, this aspect might bring changes as well. We might see some new standard and available features, though it’s good to say that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, remote keyless entry, push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Additionally, you can opt for goodies like a nine-speaker audio system, proximity keyless entry, remote start, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof etc.
When it comes to safety features, base models currently come with a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking etc. Additionally, there are available upgrades like front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parallel and perpendicular park assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control etc.
2024 Jeep Renegade Engine
Changes under the hood are not expected, so the 2024 Jeep Renegade should arrive with a familiar 1.3-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 177 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque. Although that’s a pretty decent amount of power, the overall performance isn’t particularly great. The main reason is the 9-speed automatic transmission, which is slow and reluctant, so driving dynamics aren’t as good as you would probably expect.
Fuel Economy
On the other hand, a good thing to know is that all-wheel drive is standard. The average fuel economy goes around 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is low for the class. A properly equipped Renegade can tow up to 2.000 pounds.
