2024 BMW X1 Could Get Performance Version

The entry-level crossover of the Bavarian carmaker has just been redesigned and the new, third generation brings a lot of interesting novelties, even though most of them are evolutionary. Simply, BMW designers didn’t want to experiment with the popular SUV, so the new generation represents evolution of the previous design. For that reason, it makes perfect sense to expect no bigger changes for the 2024 BMW X1, which will represent the second production year of the new generation.

This clearly refers to the standard model. On the other hand, various sources speculate about the high-performance version with the famous M badge, which could come with all kinds of upgrades. Of course, the engine is one of them but we could see upgrades in many other aspects as well. The rest of the lineup should bring no bigger changes, though small updates like new color options or new standard features are always possible.

2024 BMW X1 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 BMW X1 will represent the second production year of the new generation. Therefore, we don’t believe we could see more important updates. The recent design has brought a new design, characterized mostly by evolutionary changes. There is the new, more aggressive styling, while the new model also rides on a familiar UKL2 architecture. Still, we saw some slight mechanical revisions, which improved performance even more.

On the other hand, many sources speculate about the high-performance version, which would come as the 2024 BMW X1 M. That model would bring all kinds of upgrades, starting from the new powertrain. Furthermore, we count on various chassis upgrades, such as performance suspension, bigger brakes and similar things. Moreover, we also count on a lot of exclusive styling details, which will emphasize the model’s sporty nature.

Interior

Of course, the interior design will continue in the same way as well. We will see the same layout, which brought a lot of upgrades compared to the previous generation. Of course, the materials are finer and there is more attention to detail. Still, the most notable are new tech features, particularly a pair of massive screens that are reserved for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. They come integrated, and designed in the same fashion as the units found in the all-electric iX.

Besides nice aesthetics and good build quality, this crossover also offers a lot of space. The new generation features 0.9 inches more in wheelbase, so the legroom is even more generous. Furthermore, the amount of headroom in the second row is surprisingly generous for a car in this segment. The cargo area is also excellent for the class, with 27.2 cubic feet behind the second row and 57.2 cubic feet of the total volume.

Features

The 2024 BMW X1 might bring a few more standard features but we are pretty sure that most things are about to remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, all models should come standard with tech goodies like a pair of 12.3-inch screens, a navigation system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The list of standard equipment will also include goodies like dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, and a power liftgate. On the other hand, the list of optional features should include goodies like a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, head-up display, a Harman/Kardon stereo system, a 360-degree exterior camera system etc.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring, while things like adaptive cruise control and the lane-centering system should be available.

2024 BMW X1 Engines

When it comes to standard models, things definitely won’t change. The 2024 BMW X1 will continue with a single powertrain option, called xDrive28i, which comes standard with all-wheel drive. It features an upgraded version of the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which not puts out 228 horsepower and a pretty impressive 295 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is the new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, which replaced the previous 8-speed automatic.

On the other hand, the 2024 BMW X1 M would come with a notable power upgrade. We presume that the choice would also be on four cylinders, on a more capable version of the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. The max output would probably go over 300 horsepower, which would ensure quicker acceleration and better overall performance. Once again, the all-wheel drive would be standard.

Fuel Economy

At this point, it is still early to talk about the fuel economy of the rumored M version. On the other hand, standard models will continue in the same way, with an average fuel economy of around 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, which is very good for a subcompact SUV.
