The Japanese carmaker has announced the new 2020 Toyota Sequoia which should be presented next year. This time, the full-sized Sequoia should get several changes and those should include some minor revisions in exterior styling while the cabin should be upgraded with more trims and upgraded technology. Like before, it will get the same V-8 unit beneath its hood.

In terms of exterior design, the 2020 Toyota Sequoia will feature the same bulky design with the same soft curves all over the body. The front and rear fascias now look more modern with new sharper angles while the tailgate will keep up with its bold appearance. It is the carmaker’s largest, tallest and widest SUV and has a long wheelbase. The front end wears the massive grille and large headlamps, so as pronounced bumper. However, for the 2020 model year we can expect some subtle changes although the manufacturer still hasn’t revealed the details. But, we assume that it will get some mild revisions in order to look more modern, fresher, and competitive in the already crowded SUV market. Perhaps it could get some new designs of the wheels and a few exterior colors.
The interior design of the 2020 Toyota Sequoia
Like the current model, the 2020 Toyota Sequoia will get the standard three rows of seats and it will be able to place up to eight passengers, so it will be a perfect choose for larger families and their adventures and journeys. The front seats are very cozy and spacious and there is a large center console between them. And the driver’s seat is 8-way power adjustable. The second row comes with a three-passenger bench. However, the second row is also available with captain’s chairs which reduce the seating for up to seven occupants. The third row is also very good and provides sufficient room and also power-folding which makes the access easier.
The seats are covered in cloth while the higher trim levels will get the leather upholstery. In the center of the dashboard which is placed upright, there is a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. There are also large dials and this time we are hoping for a more modern design since it started to show its age. As well, it is very likely to receive some new color combinations.
The equipment and safety of the new 2020 Toyota Sequoia
The new 2020 Toyota Sequoia will be offered in several trim levels like its forerunner. And those are the base SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, and Platinum models. So, the base model will come standard with three-zone climate control, 8-way power driver’s and 4-way power adjustable seats, 18-inch wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, a 6.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, AM/FM/HD radio with CD player etc. The standard safety equipment will include blind-spot monitoring with the Toyota Safety Sense System. This system will add lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking.
Furthermore, the TRD Sport model will add 20-inch wheels, unique interior and exterior styling, sport-tuned Bilstein shocks, and will be available with second row captain’s chairs. The Limited model will get a power tailgate, navigation system, second and third row sunshades, a JBL premium audio system, heated and leather front seats, and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
There is also the range-topping Platinum model. And this one will add perforated leather upholstery, air suspension, second-row heated seats, wireless headphones, ventilated front seats, the larger 9-inch touchscreen, adaptive dampers, 20-inch wheels, power folding mirrors with turn signal indicators, more chrome exterior trim, and the rear-seat entertainment system with Blue-ray player. Unfortunately, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity probably won’t be offered once again.
Release date and expected price of the 2020 Toyota Sequoia
It is not yet officially confirmed, but the 2020 Toyota Sequoia is expected to arrive in the second half of 2019. The price shouldn’t differ much from the current and it starts at less than $50,000.
