2025 Porsche Cayenne EV: What We Know and What We Expect

The Porsche Cayenne has been a staple in the luxury SUV market since its inception in 2002. Now, as the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, Porsche is following suit with the all-electric iteration of the popular mid-size crossover. The 2025 Porsche Cayenne EV is expected to hit the market sometime in the second half of the year and will ride on PPE architecture with battery technology similar to the Taycan.

The 2025 Porsche Cayenne is set to be an exciting addition to the Porsche lineup, with its all-electric powertrain and updated design. With the gas-powered models and hybrid versions also carrying on, Porsche is giving customers a wide range of options to choose from, catering to their varying needs and preferences. The Cayenne continues to be a leader in the mid-size crossover SUV segment and is expected to maintain its position with this latest iteration.

2025 Porsche Cayenne: Two Iterations Will Co-Exist

While the all-electric version is a new addition to the Cayenne lineup, it does not mean that the gas-powered model will end its production right away. Porsche plans to follow a similar strategy as in the case of the Macan, with the ICE variant remaining in production for a few more years. In fact, the gas-only models will also carry on without significant changes. Base versions should continue with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, while the well-known 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the Cayenne S will also come without changes.

The Cayenne GTS uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, with a max output of 453 horsepower and 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds. The Cayenne Turbo hits 60 in just 3.7 seconds thanks to the upgraded version of the same V8 engine, with a max output of 541 horsepower. Finally, the Turbo GT comes with an even more powerful version of this engine, with a max output of 631 horsepower and impressive acceleration that includes 0-60 time of just 3.1 seconds. All engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Hybrid

The hybrid version of the Cayenne will also see some updates, with the bigger battery and extender all-electric range. The current model is available in two hybrid variants, the first based on a V6 engine with a combined output of 455 horsepower, while the more capable Turbo S E-Hybrid is based on a V8 engine and offers a max output of 670 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque. With all that power, this variant of Cayenne hits 60 in just 3.6 seconds, while the top speed goes all the way up to 183 miles per hour.

What to expect from the all-electric 2025 Porsche Cayenne

As for the all-electric version, Porsche has not released any details on the power and performance. However, we can expect it to be at least as powerful as the current top-of-the-line Turbo GT model, which produces 631 horsepower. The electric powertrain will offer instant torque and should provide exhilarating performance.

One of the advantages of electric vehicles is the ability to provide a quiet and refined driving experience, and the 2025 Porsche Cayenne EV will be no exception. Additionally, electric powertrains are highly efficient and offer lower operating costs than their gas-powered counterparts.

Fuel Economy

The all-electric version promises low running costs. On the other hand, we expect no bigger changes in the case of gas-powered and hybrid models. So, the base V6 should offer around 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, while the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 should be slightly thirstier and drop by 1 mpg.

The V8 returns around 15/19 mpg city/highway in its base variant, while the upgraded Cayenne Turbo goes down by 1 mpg. As for the hybrid, the more powerful iteration is good for about 18 mpg in a combined ride.

2025 Porsche Cayenne Design

While the powertrain may be all-electric, the exterior design of the 2025 Porsche Cayenne will not stray too far from its gas-powered siblings. The 2025 Porsche Cayenne EV will feature a familiar design approach, with a mid-size SUV silhouette and proportions similar to the current, third-generation model. However, we can expect Porsche to implement its new design language.

We can expect to see some minor changes in the exterior design, such as new headlights, similar to those found on the Taycan and upcoming Macan. Inside, the Cayenne will likely feature an updated interior, with high-quality materials and the latest technology.

Inside the cabin, the Cayenne EV will feature a high-tech interior with a large infotainment screen and advanced driver assistance features. Porsche has always been famous for its luxurious and sporty interiors, and the Cayenne EV should be no different.

Release Date and Price

Overall, the 2025 Porsche Cayenne is shaping up to be an impressive addition to the luxury SUV market. With its all-electric powertrain, the Cayenne EV will offer instant torque, a refined driving experience, and lower operating costs than its gas-powered counterparts. However, the all-electric version will also be notably more expensive than its internal-combustion siblings. The exact sum is still unknown. On the other hand, gas-powered models should start at around 73.000 dollars, while the hybrid is expected to start at around $90.000.
