According to the latest news, the upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will get minor changes. This model has been on sale in the United States since 2011 and it`s one of the bestselling SUVs. From the information’s that we got, this year we will see a new face and a 1.0-inch-larger touchscreen for its dashboard.
The subcompact 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SUV is a dated-looking SUV that comes with wide-eyed headlights and yawning grille that looks more attractive than before. The whole design is similar to the recently introduced Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUV. Furthermore, under the hood, this model will be available with two engine options.
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Comes With Minor Changes
As we already wrote, the new 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will borrow some design cues from the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. However, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is better-looking thanks to the slim headlights, wide-set fog lamps, and turn-signal elements. Also, it comes with the nifty skid plate as the standard and attractive front end.
The Outlander Sport will keep essentially the same taillights. However, now there are powered with LED lighting as the taillight. The rear is also great looking and with the stronger bumper that has been butchered up with a skid-plate flourish.
Most of the changes are happening outside. The inside of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport remains nearly the same as before. The same design and materials are present. However, the most notable upgrade is a new 8.0-inch infotainment unit. The previous model has been used a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen.
The Sport comes with comfortable seats in two rows. It is able to accommodate five passengers. Safety is also good thanks to the features like automated emergency braking system, lane assist, electronic stability, and many others.
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Powertrain Specs
Under the hood of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will be available two engine options. The ES and SE will be equipped with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be connected to the 5-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission and it will come with the front wheel drive system as the standard, while all-wheel drive is available as the option.
The next engine is stronger and it`s lying under the GT. The 2.4-liter inline-4 will be the engine that will be able to make 168 horsepower and 168 horsepower. CVT is the only choice with this engine as the all-wheel-drive system.
The first one 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine will give EPA city/highway fuel economy of 23/29 mpg for the model with manual transmission and FWD system, however, with the automatic transmission and FWD the number will go up to 24/30 mpg. Also, with the AWD system and automatic transmission, the rating is 23/29 mpg. The more powerful 2.4-liter inline-4 that will be paired with the AWD system is rated 23/28 mpg.
Release Date and Price
The release date of the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is expected to be sometime in 2020. The price will remain the same. The base model will start at the price of $22,000, and this price will include a destination charge of $940. Moreover, the ES model that is equipped with continuously variable automatic transmission will go up to $23,000, while the model with the all-wheel drive is around $24,500.
The middle-level LE that includes leather seats and black wheels cost $24,000, while the model that is offered with all-wheel drive $25,500. The last one and the most equipped is the GT trim. This one will be available with the price of 27,500 for the model with the AWD system.
