The all-new 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS has been spotted during its testing on public roads and since it will represent the next generation model it will bring many changes. First of all, it will ride on the new platform which will make it larger but at the same time, it will be lighter than before. The exterior and interior will also be revised and under its hood, it will offer several strong units, including hybrid version as well.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS
On the engine front, we are expecting several engines in the offer, so the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS will most likely arrive with some new options. Beneath the hood of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG will be placed a 5.5-liter V-8 twin-turbocharged engine. This unit will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and will be able to make 577 horses and 651 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive system will be standard and it will get 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS will also get the same engine which is found in the S-Class and it is an inline-6 turbodiesel engine. This one can deliver 286 hp and the torque of 443 lb-ft and 340 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, it should also feature a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo powertrain which should have the output of more than 600 horsepower. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS should arrive to the market later this year. The price is not yet known but it should be higher than the price of the current model which begins at around $71,000.
