2020 Mazda CX-7: Design, Engines, Release Date

We have heard the news that the carmaker is working on the new 2020 Mazda CX-7 and if it appears to be true, we are hoping to see it sometime next year. And according to the latest news, the new CX-7 should be inspired by the design of the CX-5 both inside and outside. Under the hood, the new CX-7 is expected to get the same engine options as the CX-5 but could also feature the same engine which powers the CX-9.

2020 Mazda CX-7 engine and performance

The newest 2020 Mazda CX-7 will be available with two types of engines and those will be the same units which are found in the Mazda CX-3. So, the first option is going to be a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine. And this unit will be capable of making 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. However, the exact output in the new CX-7 is still not known precisely, but we assume that it will be close to the one in the CX-5.

On the other hand, the 2020 Mazda CX-7 will also be available with a diesel engine and it is a 2.2-liter turbodiesel unit. And it will be able to make around 180 horsepower. Furthermore, according to some rumors, the new CX-7 might also use the same engine which powers the larger CX-9. It is a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine which has the output of 250 horsepower.

The exterior and interior design of the 2020 Mazda CX-7

First of all, the new 2020 Mazda CX-7 will most likely ride on the revised version of the same architecture which is also found in the Mazda CX-5 model. So, we also assume that its design will be close to the design of the CX-5 model. So, it will be inspired by the Mazda’s Koeru concept. However, in terms of dimensions, the CX-7 is going to be larger than CX-5. Furthermore, the front end will get the similar grille like on other brand’s models and slim and handsome headlamps. Moreover, the rear fascia will get the sporty bumper and recognizable taillights.

Inside the cabin, we can expect the same as for the exterior, so the interior of the 2020 Mazda CX-7 will feature the similar design as the CX-5. It should feature two rows of seats and should be able to place five passengers. The base version will get cloth seats and the range-topping model will feature leather upholstery. The dashboard will be fitted with a touchscreen for the latest infotainment system. As for the safety, it will get blind-spot monitors, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and many other features. As well, it will also include larger wheels, climate control, heated and power seats, the real leather seats on the higher trim levels.

Release date and price

The carmaker still hasn’t revealed the release date of the 2020 Mazda CX-7, but it is expected to arrive during next year. As for the pricing, it is expected to start at around $20,000.
