The manufacturer has announced the new 2020 Mazda CX-5 which has always been known for its handsome styling, well-equipped cabin, and very good equipment. This time, it should get some minor revisions and those should include more exterior colors, more interior color combinations, and perhaps some new standard features. Beneath its hood, it should offer three types of engines among which there will be a diesel unit as well.
Engines and performances of the 2020 Mazda CX-5
Beneath the hoof of the 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be placed several types of engines. Precisely, there will be two engine options to choose from and those are the same units which are found in the current model. So, the base engine is 2.5-liter inline-4 which is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine is able to make 187 horsepower and the torque of 186 lb-ft. The front-wheel drive system will be standard while the all-wheel drive layout will be optional. Connected to front-wheel drive system, this engine will be rated at 25 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model is estimated to be 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Its maximum towing capacity will be limited to 2,000 pounds.
Furthermore, the second option is a new 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. This unit will be capable of making 250 horses and 310 lb-ft of torque. It will also be mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, and it will also be offered with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. As for the fuel economy, with RWD system it will get 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive model is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
On the other hand, there will also be diesel engine and it is a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will have the output of roughly 173 horses and 310 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel drive system will be standard for this engine and it will get 27 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined.
The exterior of the 2020 Mazda CX-5
As far as the exterior design is concerned, the 2020 Mazda CX-5 will represent one of the best-looking SUVs on the market, as before. The front fascia is dominated by the recognizable trapezoidal grille and slim and narrow LED headlamps. The whole body is perfectly sculpted and features an elegant and very attractive design. The rear end wears smaller taillights and a simply designed rear bumper. The base model will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels while the higher trims will get the larger 19-inch alloy wheels. The 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be available in Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature trim levels. The Sport model will include cloth seats, keyless entry/ignition, 17-inch alloy wheels, electronic parking brake, leather-wrapped steering wheel, blind-sport monitoring, a rearview camera, rear cross-traffic alert, and Smart City Brake Support. A 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, Bluetooth, two USB ports, audio system with 4 speakers, and AM//FM/HD radio will also be standard. The Touring model will add heated front seats, leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and so on.
The Grand Touring model will get leather seats as well, memory for the driver’s seat, Bose audio system with 10 speakers, a power moonroof, a power liftgate, keyless ignition, and navigation. The options will include a head-up display, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The features will be standard on the Grand Touring and Signature models.

The new 2020 Mazda CX-5 will arrive next year, and we assume that it will be in the second half of 2019. The price shouldn’t change much from the current and it starts at roughly $25,000.
