2020 Mazda CX-30: Review, Dimensions, SkyActiv-X

After the Geneva Motor Show, Mazda introduced its all-new compact crossover. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 will be available at some point next year and it will look very attractive. This model is 173.0 inches long and it slots between the CX-3 and CX-5 models. According to those dimensions, Mazda is slowly entering the non-existing but growing segment of crossovers.

Mazda CX-30 is larger than the subcompact crossovers and smaller than the compact models. It may sound confusing now, but this trend is growing incredibly fast. The rivals such as Nissan Rogue Sport, Jeep Compass and Subaru Crosstrek are already out there in the market. Whatsoever, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 model will deliver good performance and superb driving manners.

2020 Mazda CX-30 Specs

The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 will look very attractive and stylish. The design looks clean and only the hood sports small creases. The rest of the body looks kinda “flat”. CX-30 will represent a compact crossover that is based on the new Mazda 3. At 173.0 inches long and 104.5-inch of wheelbase, the destiny of this crossover is yet unknown. That means the CX-30 is larger than the CX-3 model but smaller than the CX-5.

Mazda’s newest SkyActiv architecture is present. It was first introduced on the Mazda 3 sedan this year. And just like the model 3, CX-30 will also arrive with the similar mechanical characteristic. A standard front-wheel-drive setup and optional all-wheel-drive system. Also, the suspension will be the same. This crossover will hold plenty of thick plastic cladding and it will look very sporty.

Interior Is Very Tech-Rich

From the inside, the all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 will be very tech-rich. The goal is to deliver the interior that mimics the current Mazda 3 sedan. It is a good thing as the sedan is offering one of the best cabins in its segment. Mazda paid special attention to the cabin sound insulation. The ride will be of the highest quality, smooth and quiet. The new front-seat design is visible at first glance. Also, new 12-speaker audio system comes as standard.

Mazda’s i-Activesense safety suite is also standard. This feature offers lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection. Also, auto high beams and automatic forward emergency braking are also available. While the legroom is ample, the cargo area is far from impressive. 15 cubic foot of cargo space is a far lower rating than the CX-5 model has to offer.

2020 Mazda CX-30 Powertrain

The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 will most likely deliver the same engine lineup as the Mazda 3 sedan. That means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine will be offered as standard. This naturally-aspirated engine is producing 186 horsepower and it offers a 6-speed automatic transmission.

On the other hand, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit could be optional. This engine comes with Mazda’s compression system called the SkyActiv-X. This unit will most likely be optional and it will deliver significantly better performances.
