The Mazda’s manufacturer is working on the next generation of its compact SUV which will hit the dealerships as the 2020 Mazda CX-3. The new CX-3 will get many changes this time starting from the new architecture which will make it larger and therefore it will provide a roomier and more comfortable cabin. Furthermore, it is very likely to get a new, more efficient and stronger engine as well.
Engine and performance of the 2020 Mazda CX-3
The next generation model, the 2020 Mazda CX-3 is expected to get some changes on engine front also. So, if the latest news appears to be true, the CX-3 should get the new Mazda’s SkyActiv-X engine which will be used for the first time in the new Mazda3. And thanks to this new engine, the CX-3 should arrive with improved fuel efficiency for around 30 percent. This engine is able to make around 187 horses and 169 pound-feet of torque. And it will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
However, it will also very likely that the 2020 Mazda CX-3 will also use the same engine as the current model. And it is a 2.0-liter inline-4 unit which is able to make 148 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and the front-wheel drive system is standard. However, the all-wheel drive system will also be offered. The front-wheel drive model is rated at 29 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The AWD variant gets 27 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

The brand-new 2020 Mazda CX-3 will represent the next generation model, so this time it is expected to get some significant changes. First of all, it is said that it will be underpinned with a new platform called the SkyActive II architecture which is stronger and stiffer. So, thanks to this new platform, the new CX-3 will now be larger than before which will also affect its interior and make it more spacious and therefore, more comfortable.
As for the exterior design, for now, we don’t have any precise information, but it will definitively be slightly revised in order to keep it fresh and competitive but in the same time, it will retain the same, attractive look of the previous generation model.

When it comes to interior of the 2020 Mazda CX-3, the carmaker hasn’t revealed some major details. But it will surely be upgraded in every front starting from materials, design, infotainment system, and technology. What we can say for sure is that the new Mazda will provide more space for all the passengers because of the new platform. As well, all the passengers will now enjoy a cozier cabin which will also be quieter. The cargo room will be significantly improved too.
Release date and price of the 2020 Mazda CX-3
The newest 2020 Mazda CX-3 might arrive later this year, or in the begging of 2020, it is not yet officially confirmed. The price is also not known, but it could get slightly higher than the price of the current model which begins at $21,360.
