After almost two decades, Mahindra’s well-known SUV was finally redesigned last year and from what we know so far, the next few years shouldn’t bring more important changes. That makes perfect sense considering that the previous model was in production for so long. The new one, brings numerous improvements, whether it’s about the powertrain, ride quality, or new technologies. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2024 Mahindra Scorpio N will be a typical carryover model.
In other words, we expect to see a familiar design, which has a lot of great things to offer. The new generation remains a genuine, body-on-frame SUV, offering strong performance on all surfaces. There are three powertrain opitons on offer, along with two transmission choices, while the longer wheelbase ensures more passenger space than before.
As no bigger changes are about to come, we presume that the 2024 Mahindra Scorpio N will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2024 Mahindra Scorpio N Design
So, the 2024 Mahindra Scorpio N will represent the third production year of the new generation and we expect to see no bigger changes. We count on a familiar design, which brought completely new aesthetics for the 2022 model year when we saw the introduction of the second generation. The new model looks bolder, more aggressive and more attractive than before. Furthermore, it features bigger dimensions, including a longer wheelbase, which goes up to 108.3 inches.
Of course, the recent redesign also brought big mechanical updates but the overall layout remained the same. This is still a genuine body-on-frame SUV, which offers a high level of rigidity and strong off-road potential. You can opt for a 4WD system and also get several more off-road upgrades. At the same time, the new generation features a more sophisticated suspension setup and offers a smooth and comfortable ride.
Interior
Despite the rugged exterior, the 2024 Mahindra Scorpio N will continue with a pretty nice interior design, which offers pretty impressive overall quality, characterized by attractive aesthetics, nice materials and great attention to detail. Moreover, there is a pretty generous offer of tech and convenience features, which makes this cabin look modern and luxurious.
Besides build quality, this SUV also offers plenty of space. Thanks to the stretched wheelbase, there’s more room than in the previous generation and what’s good to know is that you can either choose a 5-seat configuration, or you can get a version with a third row of seats.
2024 Mahindra Scorpio N Engines
We don’t believe that the 2024 Mahindra Scorpio N could bring bigger changes in this aspect, so there should be three powertrain options on offer, one petrol and two diesel units. The base models would continue with a less-capable variant of the 2.2-liter turbodiesel, which puts out 132 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. For those who are looking for something peppier, there is a more powerful variant of the same engine, good for about 173 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. Finally, there is a petrol model, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 202 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque.
The base diesel engine is available only with a 6-speed manual, while the other two can also be configured with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel Economy
Of course, the base 132-hp diesel is the most efficient option, with an average fuel economy of around 40 miles per gallon (UK) in a combined ride. Of course, the more powerful diesel is slightly thirstier, though still way more efficient that the turbo-four petrol, which returns around 30 mpg (UK).
