2023 BMW X8 Revealed: Specs, Price, Interior and Release Date

The BMW X8 has been in talks for a pretty long time and if we can trust the latest rumors, it looks like something is finally happening. It looks like the company is working on the new flagship SUV, which could arrive already in the next year, according to some sources. This model would be based on the full-size X7 model, with the main difference in terms of the rear-end design, where we would see BMW’s familiar coupe layout, something that already characterizes three models in the company’s lineup.

According to rumors, the new model will come as the 2023 BMW X8 and it will share a lot of parts with the X7. The two models will share most of the mechanics, as well as the aesthetics, while the main difference would be in the rear-end design. This means that the new flagship model would also implement new design solutions that were recently introduced with the recent update of the conventional sibling.

2023 BMW X8 Design

As we already mentioned, the brand-new 2023 BMW X8 could arrive already in the next year if we are to trust unofficial reports. This would be the new flagship model, which would cost even more than the current X7. These two models would share pretty much all of the parts. The chassis and suspension setup would be pretty much identical, as well as the rest of the mechanics.

In terms of styling, we would expect to see all design changes that were introduced with the recent updates. The two models would look the same at the front, with some new headlights, grille, bumper etc. The main difference would be in the rear-end design. In this aspect, the 2023 BMW X8 would follow the path of models like the X6 or X4, which means we would see the sloping roof design, which would provide that coupe-like layout.

Interior

Of course, a tight connection is expected on the inside as well. So, we count on the same dashboard design, which was recently updated with a lot of novelties. Of course, the bigger upgrades were new tech features, a new infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster, which took a lot of inspiration from the new iX, with an integrated design that brings a bit of a futuristic flavor.

2023 BMW X8 Interior

The rest of the cabin would remain pretty similar as well, while the main difference would be in the back end of the cabin. Due to the sloping roof design, it’s hard to tell if this model would come with a third row of seats or not. If it comes, there’s no doubt that the headroom would be quite limited. For the same reason, we wouldn’t expect to see a too-generous cargo area.

2023 BMW X8 Engines

The engine lineup, of course, would also be the same. So, you may count on the same upgraded engine options, starting from the inline-six. The 3.0-liter inline-six received a significant power upgrade recently and now features 375 horsepower, which is 40hp more compared to the previous version of the engine.

The former M50i is now called M60i and just like the X7, the 2023 BMW X8 would also get a powertrain with a mild-hybrid system. Despite the electrification, the max output of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo remains the same, around 523 horsepower.

Finally, we count on the Alpina XB8 version, which would come with the upgraded V8 engine that puts out around 630 horsepower.

All engines would come coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy

In terms of fuel economy, we don’t expect bigger surprises. So, models with the inline-six should be good for about 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, models with the V8 engine should be good for about 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

2023 BMW X8 Release Date and Price

Unofficial reports suggest that the 2023 BMW X8 could arrive already in the next year. We estimate that the starting price would go around 90.000 dollars.
