The Audi manufacturer is currently testing its brand-new mid-size SUV which will hit the dealerships as the 2020 Audi Q3. The new Audi will also be available in high-performance Audi SQ3 and Audi RS Q3 versions which will also get a slightly different exterior styling compared to the standard model. As well, this time we will also notice upgraded interior and more standard and optional equipment.
Under the hood of the 2020 Audi Q3
The standard 2020 Audi Q3 will come back with the familiar engine. And it is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo engine. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine can make 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. This engine will also work with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and will have the output of 230 horsepower. It will come with all-wheel drive configuration but the front-wheel drive will be offered as well.
On the other hand, the Audi manufacturer will also offer the SQ3 model which will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. It is the same one which is used in the S3 sedan model and can make 310 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, in the SQ3 model, this unit will be able to develop up to 340 horsepower. As well, it will be able to reach 60 mph in around 4 seconds.
Furthermore, there will also be a high-performance RS Q3 model. This one will use a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged engine. It will have the output of 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. This one will hit 60 mph in around 4 seconds. Both SQ3 and RS Q3 models will be linked to a 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission and will come with Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Design of exterior
The all-new 2020 Audi Q3 will represent the next generation model and will ride on the well-known MQB platform which is used by the Volkswagen Group for mid-size and compact vehicles. In the terms of the exterior design, the new Q3 will look like a smaller version of the newest Audi Q5 and will feature a more dynamic and better-proportioned body.
On the other hand, the prototype of the new Q3 has been spied during its testing. But it seems that it is the high-performance version of this model, the RS Q3. And according to the spy photos, the new RS Q3 and SQ3 models will get larger wheels than the standard model and those will most likely be in a size of 20 inches for the RS Q3 model while the SQ3 will use 19-inchers. The front end will be dominated by a massive single-frame grille, black trim, and sharp and angular headlamps which will come with standard LED lighting. However, the laser headlights might be offered as well. Moving to the profile, we will notice more pronounced and wider wheel arches. Furthermore, on the rear end, there will be a prominent rear diffuser and sharp tailing which will give it a wider appearance.
The interior design of the 2020 Audi Q3
The 2020 Audi Q3 comes with two-row seating configuration as before and can place up to five passengers. As expected, it will be made of high-quality materials such as leather, Alcantara, aluminum etc, and will look really beautiful. The front seats are very cozy while the second row might be a bit tight for larger occupants. However, compared to the previous generation model, the 2020 Audi Q3 now provides improved rear seat space. Especially leg room. Up front, there is a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In front of the driver, there is a standard 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster instead of the analog cluster.
Furthermore, the RS Q3 and SQ3 models will get more carbon fiber trim on the door panels. As for the cargo space, with the rear seats up, there is the room of 16.7 cubic feet. But with the rear seats folded down, it expands to 50.3 cubes.
2020 Audi Q3 equipment
The standard equipment of the 2020 Audi Q3 will include keyless ignition, satellite radio, 12-way power adjustable front seats, USB port, Bluetooth, AM/FM/CD audio system with 10 speakers, a rearview camera, LED headlamps and taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and so on. The higher trims will add blind-spot monitors, a power liftgate, black roof rails, Bose audio system with 14 speakers, navigation, 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels, 4G LTE data services, automatic safety features, MMI infotainment system, sport seats, and many other more.
Release date and pricing
The all-new 2020 Audi Q3 will most likely enter the showrooms during next year. However, the SQ3 and RS Q3 model will come a bit later. The price of the base model could stay close to the current which is around $33,000. The RS Q3 model is expected to be around $44,800.
