According to the latest rumors, the manufacturer is preparing to launch its new, three-row crossover SUV and it is the 2019 Toyota Fortuner. The second generation of this model has entered the market as the 2017 model year, so the new Fortuner will hit the market with no significant changes. Perhaps we might see some new exterior colors and more tech features.
Under the hood of the 2019 Toyota Fortuner and performances
The upcoming 2019 Toyota Fortuner will arrive with the same engine options which power the previous model year. And there will be three types of engines to choose from. So, the one is going to be a 2.4-liter diesel 4-cylinder engine. This unit will be capable of making 149 hp and the torque of 300 lb-ft. It will be coupled to a 6-speed manual but the 6-speed automatic gearbox will be optional.
Furthermore, the second unit will be a 2.8-liter inline-4 diesel engine. It will be able to produce 177 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Like the previous unit, this one will also be offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The last one is going to be the 4.0-liter V-6 powertrain. This unit will be the strongest in the lineup and will be able to generate 278 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, as before, it will come with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
The exterior and interior of the 2019 Toyota Fortuner
In terms of external appearance, we don’t anticipate any significant changes for the upcoming 2019 Toyota Fortuner. So, the new Fortuner will use the same platform as the Toyota Hilux. As for the visual differences, the Fortuner will feature a more upright tailgate and more wagon-like profile. On the front end, we will notice the familiar two-slat grille which is thin and slim headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The sporty bumper with LED fog lights will give it a more muscular appearance. The rear end of the vehicle will be dominated by the large, and more pronounced bumper and horizontal taillights. The 17-inch wheels be standard while the 18-inch alloys will be offered in the higher trim levels.
The cabin of the 2019 Toyota Fortuner is very spacious and comes with three rows of seats. So, it can welcome up to seven passengers. The seats are comfortable and covered in fabric and the more expensive trim levels come with leather upholstery. In the center of the dashboard, there is a 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Every model will come with LED taillights, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a multi-function steering wheel, etc. The higher trims will add a JBL audio system with eleven speakers, keyless entry, hill descent control, navigation, power-adjustable front seats, navigation, and so on. On the safety front, it will offer seven airbags, a rearview camera, traction and stability control, and many others.
Release date and price
There is no information about the release date of the 2019 Toyota Fortuner. As well, there won’t be any large changes in pricing and it should start at around $43,000.
