If the latest rumors appear to be true, the carmaker is planning to reveal the all-new 2019 Mitsubishi Montero. The upcoming Montero will probably get a mild refresh considering its exterior styling. And should arrive with more exterior colors, new designs of the wheels, and revised front and rear fascia. Under the hood, it could get a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or an EV engine in addition to the traditional units. As well, inside the cabin, the Montero will be upgraded with better materials, more tech features, and more comfort.
Powertrain and performances of the 2019 Mitsubishi Montero
As in the previous models, the upcoming 2019 Mitsubishi Montero is expected to get a range of engines. But the choice will depend on a market. So, the base unit will most likely be a 6-cylinder engine which will be capable of producing around 300 horsepower. On the other hand, we could also see a hybrid engine as well and this unit will combine a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with an electric motor of 60 kWh. For now, we don’t have the precise information about its output. However, the hybrid option should be available for several markets only. Furthermore, for some markets, the new Montero will probably be powered by a plug-in hybrid engine as well, and it could arrive as an EV version too.
Exterior and interior design
For now, there aren’t many details about the external appearance of the new 2019 Mitsubishi Montero. However, in order to stay fresh and competitive in the crowded SUV market, the carmaker will probably give it a mild refresh. The new Montero should be made in cooperation between Mitsubishi Alliance and Renault Nissan companies. So, design-wise, the new Montero will probably get revised front fascia with a new design of the grille, more chrome accents and revised LED daytime running lights. The rear end is also expected to be restyled with a new bumper and some changes o the taillights as well. The 17-inch alloy wheels should be standard and this time we might see some new exterior colors shades.
Moving to the interior of the new 2019 Mitsubishi Montero, we should also see some upgrades considering more quality materials, some new color combination, and more tech features. The Montero will get three rows of seats as the current model and will be able to place seven passengers. The dashboard too will be redesigned with an upgraded touchscreen with the latest infotainment system. Some of the expected safety features will include lane keep assist, a rearview camera, airbags, rear parking sensors, cruise control, and blind-spot monitors. Furthermore, the navigation system and an audio system will be upgraded also.
The release date and price of the 2019 Mitsubishi Montero
The carmaker still hasn’t said precisely when the 2019 Mitsubishi Montero will be presented to the world. But we can assume that it could be next year. As for the price, the new Montero could cost around $30,000 for the base model. And the higher trim levels will go up to $50,000.
