2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Release Date, Upgrades, Changes

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has entered the market back in 2015 as a replacement of the GLK model. It has been present for three years and we cannot say that it is still fresh but it is perhaps too early for a major makeover. And the manufacturer is keeping it competitive with some small but significant upgrades which they will also apply on the upcoming 2019 model year. So, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will receive a mid-cycle refresh and will come with a number of important changes.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC side

The photographers have managed to take some photos of the upcoming Mercedes which has been caught during its testing in northern Europe. So, based on these shots, we can conclude that the carmaker won’t change its exterior styling except some small cosmetic upgrades such as lights, more exterior colors and perhaps some new designs of the wheels. The inside of the new GLC will get a couple more changes. The first thing we could notice is the new free-standing display for the infotainment system which seems to be larger than the one in its forerunner. As well, the touchpad also features a new design and there is a revised instrument cluster too.

Engine and performance of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be powered with one engine under its hood like the current model. It is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged unit. It is able to make 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with rear-wheel drive. However, the all-wheel drive system is also available. The front-wheel drive version is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Connected to all-wheel drive, it gets 21/28 mpg in the city/highway drive.

Design of exterior and interior

Based on the camouflage which mostly covers the front fascia, we can conclude that the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will get most of the changes in that section. Besides some minor upgrades of the grille, the GLC should get a revised bumper. As well, the headlamps could be slightly restyled. On the rear, the taillights seem to be pretty much the same while the bumper could be revised. Furthermore, the upcoming Mercedes should get a few more exterior colors and perhaps some new designs of the wheels.

2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC cabin

The cabin of the newest 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC will also see some improvements, mostly in the tech department. So, on the center of the dashboard, we will notice a wider, free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen for infotainment system. As well, in front of the driver, there will be a new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a redesigned steering wheel. Furthermore, there will be the new multifunction touchpad controller too. Alongside these changes, the interior of the GLC should remain pretty much the same considering materials, space, and comfort.

Release date and price

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC could arrive sometime by the end of 2018. The pricing should remain similar to the current and it could get slightly higher. The current version starts at around $41,000.
