The all-new 2019 Lincoln MKC has received a mid-cycle refresh and we must admit that it looks better than ever with its new grille. But the upcoming MKC hasn’t gotten just changes in styling but also inside the cabin. It now offers more optional safety features and upgraded technology. The range-topping Black Label has also added some new interior combinations. The MKC will be available in several trim levels and those are the base Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label. Furthermore, it won’t feature any changes under the bonnets and it should hit the market later this year.

2019 Lincoln MKC – Engines and performance

Despite the changes in many segments, under the hood, the 2019 Lincoln MKC will return with the same engine options as the current model. And there are two options available. The base model is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to produce 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. This unit gets 20 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined.

The second option will be found in the higher trim levels and it is a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost unit which will be stronger than the previous. This engine can put out 285 horses and 305 lb-ft of torque. As for the fuel economy, this unit is rated at 18 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined. Perhaps we assumed that the newest MKC might get the new 8-speed automatic which is found in the newest Nautilus, but both engines will be coupled to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox. The front-wheel drive will be standard while the all-wheel drive layout will be optional. However, the higher trim levels will come standard with four-wheel drive configuration as standard.

Design of exterior

The all-new 2019 Lincoln MKC has been fully refreshed which has given it a completely new look. The carmaker has used more simple lines on the hood which has made it look more refined and cleaner. The most noticeable change is the new design of the grille. It is the two-piece grille with horizontal slats and a honeycomb pattern on one piece, similar to the one found in the MKZ, Continental, and Navigator models. It isn’t that wide as the previous, it features more chrome, and it is not connected to the headlamps as before. So, the MKC now looks more luxurious and refined. The front bumper has also been just slightly refreshed. The profile of the 2019 Lincoln MKC has stayed pretty much unchanged so as the rear fascia except the new chrome trim. Furthermore, both front and rear fascias feature LED welcome lights.

Redesign of the interior and equipment

Speaking of the interior design, the 2019 Lincoln MKC will get some minor changes regarding the styling and materials although the range-topping Black Label will feature an extra luxury with some new design themes. And most of the changes will be applied in the technology front.

The 2019 Lincoln MKC has comfortable front seats which are spacious and supportive but the rear seat lack in head and leg room. So, the passengers might feel a bit crowded. The base models are upholstered in synthetic leather and cloth while the Black Label trim will get real leather. Behind the second row, there are 25.2 cubic feet for the cargo space. However, all the models come with split-folding rear seats. And with the rear seats folded down, there is space of 53.1 cubic feet.

The center console is made of black plastic and features many buttons. On the center of the dash, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with latest Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system. And the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are now standard. The Wi-Fi hotspot also comes as standard. However, perhaps the major upgrades in the technology front are some new safety features. There are several new optional features. Those are autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and active park assist.
