The Lexus NX represents one of the brand’s most popular vehicles in its segment. This luxury compact crossover SUV has been introduced in 2015 and been revised in 2018 when it has gotten a more handsome design. However, the carmaker has confirmed the newest 2019 Lexus NX which shouldn’t differ much from the current model. The 2019 Lexus NX F Sport and NX 300h will also be offered.
2019 Lexus NX F Sport and NX 300h powertrain and performance
For the 2019 Lexus NX non-hybrid version, there will be one single engine option. It is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit has the output of 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes with a choice of front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. This engine gets 22/28 mpg. However, the 2019 Lexus NX F Sport will come with all-wheel drive layout as standard, larger wheels, and lower-profile tires. This version is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
On the other hand, the 2019 Lexus NX 300h will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain. This unit will combine a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine and electric motor. The traditional 2.5-liter is able to make 154 hp and the torque of 152 pound-feet. However, the front electric motor will have the output of 141 horses while the rear one is rated at 67 hp. All together, they will be able to deliver 194 horsepower. The NX 300h model will arrive with all-wheel drive system only and the engine will be coupled to a continuously variable automatic transmission. This engine will be able to reach 60 mph in 9.1 seconds. As for the fuel economy, the NX 300h is estimated to be 33 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
Design of exterior of the 2019 Lexus NX F Sport and NX 300h
For 2018, the Lexus NX has received a host of small adjustments making it look more attractive and dramatic. So, the 2019 Lexus NX will most likely arrive with no noticeable changes in exterior design. It now features a revised spindle grille which dominates the front fascia and a pair of angular and sharp swept-back headlamps with L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The whole front end looks aggressive and the NX 300h will get a slightly different pattern of horizontal silver bars on the front. All the models will come with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Furthermore, the 2019 Lexus NX F Sport will get some unique details so it differs from the base model. So, the F Sport package will include a black mesh grille, black side mirrors, and a larger faux air intake which will give it racier and sportier look. As well, it will also ride on the larger and more aggressive 18-inch wheels. However, the 19-inch alloys with low-profile tires will be optional.
Interior design
The interior of the 2019 Lexus NX is a nice-looking and quiet and it is made of high-quality materials for more luxurious feel. It mixes silver, black, wood, and metallic accents which give it a premium look. The NX comes with two-row seating configuration and the front seats are very comfortable, supportive, and adjustable. There is also plenty of headroom. However, the rear seats aren’t as cozy as the front ones. Furthermore, the F Sport package adds sporty seats with bolsters. Generally, the interior room is pretty generous and there is a lot of room for cup holders and other items. Speaking of the cargo, there is a room of 17.7 cubic feet which is the lowest in its class. However, with the seats folded down, the NX increases the cargo space to 54.6 cubic feet. The dashboard is wide and equipped with a standard 8.0-inch touchcsreen for infotainment system.
Equipment and safety of the 2019 Lexus NX F Sport and NX 300h
The standard equipment of all the NX models includes dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, automatic headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable front seats, and infotainment controls on the steering wheels. However, there will be the Comfort package available which will add electrochromic mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, blind-spot alert, and rear cross-traffic monitoring. The Luxury package will include a power liftgate, leather upholstery, blind-spot warning, self-dimming mirrors, and interior wood trim.
Furthermore, the F Sport package will add some new exterior details, active noise-enhancement system, a tuned suspension, larger wheels, and sport seats. It will also receive a power moonroof, a 20.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, parking assist, and a new power tailgate with a kick sensor. Unfortunately, we probably won’t see Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity once again.
The 2019 Lexus NX will come standard with Lexus Safety System+ package. It includes a lane-departure alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic headlight control, and forward-collision warning.
