The Jeep’s largest SUV has been spotted on the road during its testing and it is the all-new 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Based on the spy photos, the Grand Wagoneer will borrow some design tweaks from the Grand Cherokee but it will, of course, be larger. However, it will be based on same chassis and frame of the Ram 150 model and it will be built at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer will represent the brand’s flagship SUV and will find main rivals in the Lincoln Navigator, the Cadillac Escalade, the Range Rover, and the GMC Yukon Denali.
When we take a closer look at the photo of the new Jeep, we could notice the similar design with the current Grand Cherokee. In the engine front, the carmaker will probably equip it with a range of V-6 and V-8 units, and it is very likely to appear with a strong V-8 Hellcat powertrain. Furthermore, the Company is planning to introduce an electrification of its lineup, however, we cannot say for sure if the Grand Wagoneer will get a hybrid unit. But, it could easily happen at some point in future. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information about its interior, except that it will continue to be a three-row SUV.
Engines and performances
Like before, the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be available with several units under the hood. The one option is a 3.0-liter V-6 EcoDiesel engine which has the output of 240 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque. The next is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine while the strongest unit is going to be a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8. This one will be able to produce 485 horses and 475 lb-ft of torque. The engines will be matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission and it will come standard with a full-time all-wheel drive system.
Exterior and interior design of the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
The 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be based on the same body-on-frame construction as the upcoming Ram 1500. However, in the terms of exterior styling, the Grand Wagoneer will feature some similar design cues with the Grand Cherokee. The front fascia will wear the familiar seven-slot grille which will be wide and a pair of LED headlamps. The fog lights and the taillights will also have a similar design as the headlamps which feature seven lighting elements. Furthermore, the rear end will get dual exhaust pipes.
Inside, the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will feature the standard three-row seating and premium materials. We assume that it should be offered with heated and cooled seats with a massage function which is also available in the Range Rover. As well, the dashboard will probably receive a large touchscreen and optional rear seat entertainment system. Furthermore, in the safety department, we expect the latest technology such as adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping, automatic high beams, front and rear sensors, and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer should arrive sometime in 2020. The pricing is not yet announced but we believe that it should start between $60,000 and $70,000.
