2019 Honda HR-V Turbo, Changes Based on Vezel Concept

The Honda HR-V is a desirable small SUV which delivers roomy interior, very good fuel efficiency, and very reasonable price. It is also capable and provides good ground clearance. Although it is a relatively new vehicle, meaning it is present on the market for a couple of years, the small SUV segment is constantly growing, so in order to stay fresh and competitive, the carmaker has decided to give it a redesign. It is the new 2019 Honda HR-V which will be based on the new Vezel.

The Honda manufacturer has just presented it brand-new Vezel in Japan giving us a preview of what we can expect from the upcoming HR-V model which should debut in North America. So, the first thing we can notice is a redesign of the exterior. We can expect new grille, lights, and a new design of the wheels. However, the cabin seems almost the same as the current model and it could only get a new electronic shifter and restyled seats. But besides that, we expect the same equipment and materials. Furthermore, the things shouldn’t change in the engine department too. It should use the same 4-cylinder engine while in Japan this model is also available with a hybrid powertrain too.

Engine and performance of the 2019 Honda HR-V

Like we have mentioned above, the 2019 Honda HR-V will be powered by the same engine as the current. It is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder which is able to make 141 horses and 127 pound-feet of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission. The manual transmission comes only with front-wheel drive configuration while the all-wheel drive is optional for the automatic variant.

As for the fuel economy, with a manual gearbox, it gets 26/33 mpg. The FWD variant paired with an automatic is rated at 27/31 mpg. The all-wheel drive model with automatic transmission gets 27 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The 2019 Honda HR-V will show most of the changes in the exterior design. And the most noticeable upgrade is the new grille. The headlamps will also be restyled with angular and sleeker design and LED lighting. The LED fog lights will also be completely reworked. Furthermore, the newest Honda will feature a new design of the alloy wheels and it should offer several designs including the new 10-spoke wheels.

The interior of the 2019 Honda HR-V will stay almost the same except the revised front seats which will now be more comfortable. As well, the cabin should be quieter too but the rest of the cabin will look as before. The standard equipment of the HR-V includes USB, Bluetooth, power features, a 5.0-inch touchscreen, audio system, cruise control, and a rearview camera. The EX trim adds keyless ignition, a sunroof, automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, a second USB etc. In the EX-L there will be navigation, satellite radio, roof rails, and leather seats.
