2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer: Review, Spy Photos, Release Date

It seems that the rumors, which started in 2015, will finally come true. The carmaker is planning to reveal its all-new 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer sometime during this year. The Chevy’s midsize crossover has been caught during its testing and based on the spy shots we could notice many similarities with the GMC Acadia. And after, the prototype of the upcoming Trailblazer has been once again caught under the camouflage a year after that. So, it is very likely that this year the Chevy’s lineup of the crossover SUV will be expanded for another model. The Trailblazer will stand between the compact Equinox model and the larger Chevy Traverse.

The 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will probably have much in common with the GMC Acadia, starting from the dimensions and the platform. Related to that, it should also have similar if not the same engines as the Acadia. Visually, based on the spy shots we have seen, we could notice some similar styling cues with the Chevrolet FNR-X concept model. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information about its interior and it is still not sure whether will be offered with the two-row or the three-row seating configurations.

The main rivals of the new Chevy will include Nissan Murano, Ford Edge, Kia Sorrento, Toyota Highlander, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

What engines might power the newest 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

According to our predictions, the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer will most likely use the same engines which power the GMC Acadia. So, the base unit is supposed to be a 2.5-liter inline-4 naturally aspirated engine. However, there should be also an optional unit which may include a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine or a 3.6-liter V-6 naturally aspirated powertrain. These engines will probably work with a six-speed automatic or the new 9-speed automatic gearbox. The front wheel drive system should be standard while the all-wheel drive layout should also be available.

The platform, exterior, and interior

The all-new 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer should be underpinned with a short-wheelbase version of the GM’s C1 platform. It is the same one found in the GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5. As for the exterior design, not much is known. However, the new Trailblazer should borrow some design tweaks from the Chevrolet FNR-X concept. So, the whole design will be more aggressive than before.  And we have noticed the similar design of the LED headlamps as in the FNR-X. Furthermore, the rear end should feature dual exhaust outlets.

Speaking of the interior of the 2019 Chevrolet Trailblazer, there isn’t much information too. It is still unclear if it is going to be available with a two-row or a three-row seating configuration. However, we assume that the third row will probably be offered as an option. As for the technology, we expect that it will get the latest Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system and advanced safety equipment.
