2024 Audi Q7 Redesign: What We Know So Far

So far, both generations of Audi’s three-row crossover have been characterized by long production cycles. The original model was in production for a full decade, while the current model has just entered its eighth production year and it is expected to be replaced soon. Allegedly, the new generation is already in development and it is expected to arrive sometime in the next year, as the 2024 Audi Q7. From what we know so far, this will be the last time to see the Q7 with internal combustion engines. After that, things will go all-electric.

Therefore, we don’t expect to see radical changes. Instead, many things will carry over from the current generation. This particularly refers to the mechanical aspect of the vehicle, including the engine lineup. On the other hand, we expect to see a completely new exterior design, maybe even some size increase. Naturally, a new cabin is another thing we expect to see, along with all kinds of new tech features.

As we’ve just mentioned, the upcoming redesign will bring mostly evolutionary changes, especially when it comes to mechanics. Therefore, the platform is one of the first things that comes to mind and we don’t expect surprises here. The 2024 Audi Q7 should continue to ride on the familiar MLB platform, which underpins almost all models in Audi’s ICE lineup. So, the overall layout would remain the same, with a longitudinally-mounted engine, all-wheel drive etc.

On the other hand, we might see some smaller tweaks regarding suspension and chassis setup, even though the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect. It comes standard with air suspension and offers a great balance between comfort and athleticism. Also, the steering is direct and precise, while the body roll is minimal, so we expect to see nothing but fine-tuning.

Exterior

What we do expect from the upcoming redesign is the new exterior design. First of all, there is the matter of size, as some sources suggest bigger dimensions. Allegedly, we could see a longer wheelbase, which makes sense if we consider that the current model isn’t particularly generous with the third-row passenger room and overall cargo capacity.

Of course, there is styling. We count on a new appearance, with a design language that takes some inspiration from newer Audi models, including all-electric ones, such as the e-tron. That would mean a more prominent grill design, narrower headlights, sharper lines etc. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the overall shape could change much.

Interior

Another important aspect of this redesign is the interior. Audi has always been known for making some of the nicest cabins in the business and the current generation is no exception. Despite the age, it looks very elegant, thanks to the combination of conservative aesthetics and high-quality materials. Furthermore, there is a pretty generous offer of tech features, which makes everything looks even more upscale.

So, we presume that the 2024 Audi Q7 will follow the same design philosophy, with a similar approach but a more modern layout. Once again, we should see a combination of conservative aesthetics and super-fine materials, along with lots of tech features.

When it comes to seating configuration, you may expect three rows of seats. The rumored size increase promises more room in the third row and a bigger cargo area. On the other hand, the first two rows are already very generous with space and offer a high level of comfort.

2024 Audi Q7 Engines

As we already mentioned, most of the current engine options should carry over, starting from the base 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. However, the new version of the engine will probably get a mild-hybrid system. On the other hand, the 3.0-liter V6 already comes with such a setup and offers a max output of 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is the SQ7 model, equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which puts out 500 horsepower and which could also get a mild-hybrid setup.

The current generation is also available in two PHEV variants and we presume they will carry on, with possible upgrades. Both versions are based on the V6 engine. The more basic version puts out around 376 horsepower, while the more powerful one is good for about 450 horsepower.

All units will continue with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
