2019 Audi Q3 and Q3 Hybrid: Redesign, Interior, Review

The next generation of Audi’s popular small SUV has been spied during its first testing ride. It is the all-new 2019 Audi Q3 which will get a new platform and upgraded look. The interior will be revised with the new touchscreen and according to the latest news the Q3 should finally be available with the new hybrid unit.

The powertrain of the 2019 Audi Q3 and Q3 Hybrid

Under the hood of the 2019 Audi Q3, we can expect the same engine as in the current model. It is a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit is able to make 200 horses and 207 pound-feet of torque. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive system as standard. However, the all-wheel drive layout is also available which will provide better handling. Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive variants are rated at 20 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. The FWD model is able to reach 60 mpg in 7.8 seconds while the all-wheel drive model in 8.2 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 130 mph.

There is also a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder turbocharged engine which powers the range-topping RS Q3 model. This engine is able to make deliver 340 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. For the European market, the carmaker will offer a 1.4-liter TSFI engine which will work with a 6-speed manual transmission. And there will also be a 2.0-liter TSFI unit with all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed S tronic gearbox.

Furthermore, we can also expect the all-new Q3 Hybrid model. However, we still don’t have any precise information about this unit. As well, some sources claim that the manufacturer might offer an all-electric version but we sincerely doubt it. Moreover, the Q3 should also receive a 1.5-liter TSI powertrain.

Design of the exterior

The 2019 Audi Q3 will represent the second generation model and we can surely expect some changes in the external appearance. However, they won’t be as large as the interior upgrades.

The new Q3 has been spotted at the Nurburgring during its testing under the camouflage. But despite the coverings, we were able to see that the new Q3 won’t be significantly different from the current model. However, some changes are visible. First of all, the Audi Q3 will be underpinned with the new MQB modular platform and will be slightly larger than the current version in order to differ and stand above the Q2 model. Precisely it will be 2.75 inches longer than before and 2 inches wider. But despite the increase in size, the Q3 should be lighter for around 110 pounds.

The new Q3 will feature some similar styling cues from the Audi Quattro. The front end will receive a large single-frame grille and sharp and angular headlamps equipped with Xenon lights. There will also be LED daytime running lights. The Q3 should get larger wheels and roof rails too. Around back, we could notice quad exhaust pipes which seem to be integrated into the rear bumper. As well, the rear end will get a spoiler on the hatch and LED taillights.

Redesign of interior and upgrades

The interior of the 2019 Audi Q3 will be revised and improved with advanced technology. However, as expected the cabin will be made of premium materials and nice finishes. The most noticeable change will be a revised dashboard with the new MMI’s touchscreen which will be integrated into the dashboard. The climate controls will be positioned below the screen and the central air vents will be now placed on top of the touchscreen.

The rest of the Q3’s interior should remain pretty much unchanged. It is comfortable, provides sufficient space for all passengers despite its size, and it features high-class materials. The Q3 offers 16.7 cubic feet of cargo space. However, if you fold down the rear seats, the cargo space increases to 48.2 cubic feet.
