Firstly introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Audi Q2 is an entry-level model of its well-known Q lineup. It is a luxury compact crossover SUV which delivers great driving dynamics, bold design, and good performance. Because of its dimensions, it is a perfect vehicle for a city driving and it is most popular among younger buyers. The Q2 shares many similarities with the A3 such as platform, powertrain options, and the safety equipment. However, it is a bit shorter. It has been present on the market for several years, and the carmaker has announced the newer version which will go on sale as the 2019 Audi Q2.
Since the Q2 is a relatively new model, the 2019 version shouldn’t differ much from its forerunner. It features a bold and handsome styling so we don’t expect any upgrades in this area. The interior looks like any Audi model with quality materials and modern equipment. Under the hood, the Q2 is available with several engine options including petrol and diesel engines.
Engines and performances
Depending on a market, the 2019 Audi Q2 will be available with several types of engines. And there will be a choice between three gasoline and two diesel engines.
So, starting from the gasoline options, there is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder TSFI engine which will be able to make 116 horses. The second is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder TSFI unit which is capable of making 150 hp. The strongest powertrain will be a 2.0-liter turbo TSFI engine which will have the output of nearly 200 horsepower. As well, the carmaker promises that the petrol lineup will offer the best fuel efficiency.
On the other hand, among diesel variants, there is a 1.6-liter TDI which will deliver around 116 horsepower. The second is a 2.0-liter TDI Quattro which will be offered in two levels. The base will be able to generate 150 hp while the second will be more powerful and will produce around 190 hp. As for the transmission, the engines will work with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, the manufacturer has also introduced a new 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox for the diesel options.
Design and interior of the 2019 Audi Q2
The 2019 Audi Q2 will feature the same styling as the current model which looks very attractive and bold. The massive Audi’s well-known grille dominates the front fascia and the angular headlamps give it a bit aggressive appearance. The rear fascia wears the large LED tail lamps and there are some chrome accents on the bumper. The Q2 rides on the nicely designed 20-spoke 19-inch wheels with a silver metallic finish.
Inside, the 2019 Audi Q2 looks modern and it is loaded with a range of advanced features. The dashboard features a minimalistic design and there is a 7.0-inch MMI display for infotainment and navigation systems. Some of the standard equipment includes audio system, USB, Bluetooth, cruise control, six airbags, rear parking sensors, and so on.
Release date and price
The release date of the 2019 Audi Q2 is not yet revealed. As for the price, we believe that it should be similar as before, and it starts at roughly $28,000.
